Committees

Providing opportunities for volunteerism is a high priority for the Hobe Sound Chamber. We strive to offer our members many opportunities to volunteer in our community and serve on a variety of committees. Working with a committee will not only help us achieve our goals but allow for each member to showcase their personal attributes and shine while serving different Chamber causes. We encourage members to join a committee so they can stand apart from the general membership, meet other professionals and display their many talents in business and community settings. Ambassador Committee
Ambassadors are the lifeline of the Hobe Sound Chamber, helping to recruit new members, making all members feel welcome at events and assisting with the facilitation of monthly member events. Ambassadors are the Public Relations group, charged with working close to staff and Board of Directors on many projects year-round.

Event Planning Committees
The Chamber is funded completely through membership dues, private donations and sponsorships as well as through fundraising events. There are many different Event Planning Committees that meet throughout the year at different times to plan, implement and host fundraisers that benefit local scholarships, community events and the Chamber’s operating budget.

Event Planning Committees are great avenues to meet other members while planning fun and creative events. Most committees meet only a few months out of the year so this option is great for your “down” season. Event Planning Committees currently available: Casino Night, Christmas Parade, Festival of the Arts, Golf Tournament and BBQ Festival.

Sponsorship Committee
Sponsorship Committee Members work alongside the different Event Planning Committees focusing on recruiting new sponsors for each event. This committee affords members a great opportunity to reach out to and get to know local business leaders that support the Hobe Sound Chamber.

Nominating Committee
Each year some seats on the Board of Directors are replaced due to term limits per the bylaws. The nominating committee has the opportunity to review the membership and recommend people they think will be an asset to the Board of Directors and the Chamber as a whole and place them on the ballot for election. This committee has an opportunity to effect how the Chamber will function in the coming year.

Adopt-A-Road/ Beach Clean Up Committee
These volunteers coordinate and participate in one Beach Clean Up and one Road Clean Up per year. They work closely with other local volunteer organizations and schools to help keep our community clean.

Pelican Assembly Committee
The Pelican Newspaper is a tradition in Hobe Sound, distributed to members, residents of Hobe Sound, and businesses. It is printed quarterly and members have the option of placing inserted advertising in the copies mailed to our members. Those inserts must be folded and placed inside The Pelican before it is sent to the community. Committee members will be called on four times per year to donate some time to labeling and assembling The Pelican.
