Boys & Girls Club of Martin County
“The Positive Place for Kids;”
the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County,
Inc. has been providing quality programs
to local youth for the past 13 years.
Affiliated with the Boys & Girls Clubs of
America, staffed with trained, caring
professionals and volunteers, the Club
offers a positive alternative to drug use,
poor grades, loneliness, crime, and negative
choices. Activities include arts and
crafts, field trips, a computer learning
center, game rooms, bicycle safety and
basketball. The Hobe Sound Center has a
newly constructed gym on its site, which is
at 11500 S.E. Lares Avenue. Call 772-

The GFWC Hobe Sound
Women’s Club, Inc.
The GFWC (General Federation of Women’s
Clubs) Hobe Sound Women’s Club works to
address needs in the community by supporting
such initiatives as Relay for Life, Molly's
Girls and mentoring programs at Hobe Sound
Elementary School. Club members, who must be
18 or older, currently meet once a month at
the Hobe Sound Civic Center, 8980 S.E.
Olympus Street. The Women’s Club
co-sponsors the Hobe Sound Festival of the
Arts each year with the Chamber of Commerce.
They also tend a beautiful butterfly garden
at the west end of Zeus Park. Call

Hobe Sound Community
Chest
The principle function of the Hobe Sound
Community Chest is to solicit and then
donate funds to social service agencies in
Hobe Sound. Founded in 1949, the
Community Chest continues to be the area’s
premiere fund-raising organization whose
goal is to help those agencies that help
Hobe Sound residents. Call

The Hobe Sound
Citizens Alliance
The Alliance endeavors to provide a
citizens forum to address issues which
affect the lifestyles, health, safety, and
economic stability of the citizens of Hobe
Sound. The Alliance will make efforts to
preserve the historical character of the
community while assisting in the natural
maturation process of Hobe Sound.
Protection of environmentally sensitive
areas of the community and providing
recreational opportunities are important goals
of the Alliance. For more information please

Friends of the Hobe
Sound Library
Friend’s of the Hobe Sound Library are
the voluntary right arm of the local library
system. They organize fund raisers, book
sales, and other special events. Monies
raised are used to purchase items for the
library, and sponsor children's and adult
programs. The Friends also provide funds for
the staff to attend classes and seminars so
that they can keep abreast with the latest
happenings in the library world. Call

Veterans of Foreign Wars
The VFW Post 10132 is located at 6101 SE
Dixie Highway, Hobe Sound, FL. The VFW

33475. Current membership is about
1,200 veterans. The Veterans are involved in
many community activities such as donating
flags to the schools and teaching them about
proper flag care and use. They sponsor
a patriotic essay contest for the high
schools and elementary once a year. The Hobe
Sound VFW Honor Guard is renowned throughout
the area participating in many military
funerals. Call them at 772-288-1040. The VFW
supports the Veterans Hospitals especially
the one in West Palm Beach. They also
support the nursing homes in the area.

AARP
The American Association for Retired People
(AARP) meets at the Hobe Sound Civic Center
on the second Tuesday of the month except in

Hobe
Sound/Port Salerno Rotary Club
The Hobe Sound/Port Salerno Rotary is a club
dedicated to the ideal of service to our
local community. The Club supports a variety
of local charities financially. They also
are involved in hands-on projects to improve
our community. Additionally, Rotary supports
a number of National and International
projects.
The object
of Rotary is to encourage and foster the
ideal of service as a basis of worthy
enterprise and, in particular, to encourage
and foster:
1. The
development of acquaintance as an
opportunity for service;
2. High
ethical standards in business and
professions; the recognition of the
worthiness of all useful occupations; and
the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation
as an opportunity to serve society;
3. The
application of the ideal of service in each
Rotarian’s personal, business and community
life;
4. The
advancement of international, understanding,
goodwill and peace through a world
fellowship of business and professional
persons united in the ideal of service.
Rotary is always looking for individuals who
subscribe to these ideals to join with us in
this worthy endeavor. Meetings are held
