Dunbar Center
The Dunbar Center is a child care center that offers the Early Head Start Program and Early Learning Coalition is accepted. The daycare facility is located in the Banner Lake community of Hobe Sound right off of Bridge Road. The center provides services to parents of children from birth to age five. Center staff specialize in creating learning opportunities for children of many different levels, cultures, interests and with special needs. The programs offered by the Dunbar Center are accredited by the NAEYC and prepare children socially, emotionally and intellectually for the transition to kindergarten. Hobe Sound Early Learning Center
HSELC is a private, non profit center that services about 140 children between the ages of one and five. It was established in 1962 as the Humpty Dumpty Kindergarten by Gertrude Pettway, the center’s first director. The facility has seven classrooms and a large playground with safe sturdy equipment. Hobe Sound Early Learning Center is accredited by APPLE (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment) and is licensed by the State of Florida. The curriculum is designed to help each student develop social, emotional, and language skills, as well as a multitude of kindergarten readiness with reading, math, music and art. There is no minimum income requirement for this day care facility and the center’s regular program coincides with the Martin County school calendar. Boys & Girls Club of Martin County
Located in the same building as the administrative offices, the Cole-Clark branch is the flagship! Thanks to a generous donation from B/E Aerospace, the Cole-Clark branch in Hobe Sound has a state-of-the-art computer laboratory with Dell laptops. Plus, there’s a bright yellow library that’s perfect for Power Hour and the first-ever Teen Room that’s got an X-box, a Wii on a big-screen television and even a cool jukebox! Certified teachers volunteer to help in individualized tutoring rooms and the stage and art room host a sewing club and other great programs. Plus, there is an extensive, popular sports program including tennis, yoga and flag football. There’s always something going on at the Boys & Girls Club!
